Hagar’s Run is the first event of the
Hagar weekend each spring. This distance race tracks our local intrepid
sailors into a restricted zone in the Banana River near the Cape Canaveral
launch facilities. This 7 miles stretch of nearly pristine lagoon is about
as good a place to sail as any. With restrictions on motor vessel traffic,
scenery for sailors is often for their eyes only. The race course turning
marks are two markers near NASA causeway, about as far to NASA property as
one can sail outside a fully restricted zone.
