Hagar’s Run is typically a very windy race. Last year, winds gusted to more than 25 kn, with the usual weeding out of catamarans in need of periodic maintenance. In 2007, winds were more manageable and the weather was warmer, too. About a dozen teams were ready to race when the white flag went up.

The race course was a simple up-down leg, starting at the beach in Kelly Park, turning north under SR 528 causeway to marks near NASA causeway, and then return. The trip this yea took a between 2 and 3 hr for the fastest boats. The biggest mishaps was accidental collision with shallows. And there are plenty of those especially at the north end of the course.

In the end, Frank Rodricks and his crew, Cathy Turner, won this distance race. They raced a Frankenboat. Dave Andrews and his crew were second, racing a Hobie 16. Gilligan and Mike, from Daytona, raced a Prindle 18.2 to 3rd place. . Hagar was impressed and gave them plaques the next day at Hagar the Horrible banquet with Frank’s help.
