The remaining two classes, the low and high Portsmouth classes were composed of a mélange of what some call the 'dead boat society,' catamarans no longer in production, but beloved and expertly sailed by their owners. In the High Portsmouth open class, Marlene Sassman sailed to a correct 1st place on a vintage H 14. Craig Long & John Harrison on a Hobie Getaway and Wayne Lynch on a rescued SeaSpray were 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
In the Low Portsmouth Open Class, John McKnight and Terry Greene scored 1st place on a H Miracle. John just retired a few weeks before the regattta, so we hope to see him at a lot more central Florida regattas rather than hear he was flying as an airline pilot. Terry Greene, like John Casey, finished racing the Tybee just a week earlier. Both were in top form but for different reasons. Rick Ushold & Joni Burman raced the Minnow, a Prindle 18.2 to second place. Frank Rodrick & Kathy raced the Frankenboat, a highly modified NACRA 5.2 to a 3rd place finish. Jerry & Conner Wolfe and Floyd White & Christi Costigan were 4th and 5th place, respectively, in the low Portsmouth class.
