Veteran participants in the St. Augustine Summer Sizzler used to an ocean catamaran regatta were in for a surprise this year. Fleet 111, working with Jacksonville’s Rudder Club and its Labor Day Regatta event, combined the two and held both in the St. Johns River near the Club’s facility. Hot sands gave way to a set up on a shaded bluff overlooking the St. Johns River south of Jacksonville. But the fun was the same and the races a bit more challenging to those unfamiliar with effects of currents on a race course.
