During the first 3 days of the regatta, the wind blew, at times over 25 kn. These teams were up to the challenge. By Friday, the morning races were held under only 8 kn winds. After lunch, the zephyrs again rose to winds and provided sailing opportunities better characterized as drag races than cruises. By Saturday, a stalled front killed the wind. After a 2 hr wait on the race course under dying breezes, the race committee canceled the days’ races, the final 2 planned for the Alter Cup series. The usual scenario of any regatta always depends on the wind. Even with a final day without wind, the 2007 Alter Cup will go down as an exceptional one for the wind conditions that occurred in the first 3 days.
