The Hobie 16 Class was the largest, typical of this
summer’s regattas in Florida, with 9 cats registered. The competition was
stiff between Mike Burley & Geri Price from Ft. Pierce and Chuck and Charlie
Pickering from Orlando. They traded first and second places finishes, but in
the end Burley and Price came in first place because of one extra first
place finish over the Pickerings. Robert and Marianne Murph were third with
9 points, while Vernon and Daniel Kuftic were 4th and Javier Junco and Kate
Brennen completed the regatta in 5th place. This was an exciting class to
watch. The 3rd and 4th place teams both had a second place finish at some
point in the afternoon. Until the end of the day, any of the teams could
have changed ranks in the finally tally.
